Please contact your state legislators today and ask them to contact the Federal Trade Commission in opposition to the proposed merger between Express Scripts (ESI) and Medco. If approved, this merger would have a devastating impact on independent community pharmacies, who are local small business employers in addition to being highly trusted healthcare providers.

If approved, this merger would have a devastating impact on independent community pharmacies. ESI and Medco would control 30% of all prescriptions processed on an annual basis, and in private sector plans that number rises to an astounding 80%. They have also publicly stated that this merger would allow them to squeeze other market participants such as manufacturers and pharmacies to find savings in the marketplace.
We understand Medicare and Medicaid cuts are being discussed as part of the upcoming Congressional debt reduction plan. Many of these proposals would have a disproportionate effect on independent community pharmacies and beneficiaries of government health programs. Please call or email your Representative and both of your Senators TODAY and let them know that you have grave concerns with these reductions.
